Additional Information From the Colton Storm catalogue: "First Edition. Dr. John Knight wrote his own account which was edited by Brackenridge. The editor took Slover's account (he could not write) by dictation and perfected it for publication. The two narratives and covering letter were offered by Brackenridge to Francis Bailey who printed the work in the 'Freeman's Journal' April 30 to May 21, 1783. The work was fantastically sucessful and became one of the most popular examples in Captivity literature."
