Additional Information From the Colton Storm catalogue: "Lee went overland to the California gold fields in 1850 taking four months for the trip from Missouri to Sacramento. He returned to Missouri overland with pack mules in 1852, and in 1857 went across again as captain of a train and driving a herd of cattle through. He stayed in California until 1859, disposing of his cattle to good advantage, and returned via Panama. He moved to Texas in 1869 and laid out the town of Valley View in 1873."
