Additional Information From the Colton Storm catalogue: "Davis advocated the building of a railroad from the Atlantic across the isthmus of Florida to the mouth of the Arkansas River, thus saving American commerce between Texas and the Atlantic seaboard from the guns of Spain in Cuba. The price of Cuba would thus be reduced, or Spain would live in peace as America's neighbor."
